Dear Solarthermalworld.org Reader,
The Chinese central government has big plans for solar district heating in regions such as Tibet. Additionally, there is great demand for solar industrial heat to replace energy generated by coal boilers. To speed up the deployment of large-scale solar heating and cooling systems, China’s collector manufacturers have sought strategic partnerships with international research organisations and specialised manufacturers abroad. The photo on the left shows the signing ceremony of a 5-year cooperation agreement between CanmetEnergy, a leading research and technology organisation on clean energy in Canada, and vacuum tube collector manufacturer Sunrain Solar Energy from China in June. As much as CAD 5 million is said to be spent on training courses and demonstration plants with seasonal borehole heat storage. The photo on the right was taken in May, when the Chinese Haier Group, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of household appliances, acquired a 51 % stake in Austrian collector manufacturer Greenonetec, based in St Veit in southern Austria. The objective of the two shareholders is to establish the licensed production of large-scale flat plate collectors in China and offer selected Haier products with the help of Greenonetec’s distribution network in Europe.
Have a good read and sunny regards
